Arepas with Melting Cheese

Ingredients

2 cups milk
2 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups Masa-arepa
Farmers cheese or string cheese as desired
Oil for sautéing, grapeseed or an olive oil blend
Salt

Directions

Heat the milk, butter, sugar and salt in a small pot until warm. Add to the flour and mix well to combine. Allow to sit for 1 minute.

Form 1 tablespoon of mix into a small disk. Top with a piece of farmers cheese and place allow tablespoon of dough on top. Form the arepa into a patty making sure to seal in the cheese completely.

Heat the oil in a saute pan over medium heat, adding enough oil to cover 1/3 inch up from the bottom of the pan. Fry the arepas for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
