Spaghetti and Sausage

2 Italian sausages, casing removed
2 tablespoons Badia olive oil
½ cup yellow onion, chopped fine
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 beefsteak tomatoes, diced small
¼ tablespoon red crushed chilies
8 Badia dry basil leaves, ripped
½ cup grated pecorino Romano cheese
½ package whole wheat spaghetti, cooked according to package instructions

Heat a saucepan on medium heat. Add the sausages and cook stirring for 2 minutes. Add the oil, onions and garlic. Cook stirring for 3-4 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cook for 8 minutes covered. Add chilies and season with salt and pepper. Add the pasta and a little of the pasta water if necessary to wet the pan a little. Stir for 4 minutes and serve with grated pecorino Romano.
