There’s plenty of public parking in the area. We placed our order and drinks arrived followed by the Mussel appetizer which was presented in a large bowl and topped with a toasted baguette. They were very flavorfully prepared with garlic and saffron. The entrée was beautifully plated. A square of grits was placed in the center of the plate and topped with a large amount of shrimp and an andouille sausage brown sauce. A third of which came home with me. Troy our waiter brought us our check and emphasized that there was no hurry. What stands out the most for me at 101 Ocean is the only place you can have a conversation while enjoying dinner in Lauderdale by the Sea.

The menu is big with a variety of pricing and options for just about any taste. I was taken by the raw bar section of the menu, in which you can get mussels, clams or oysters either raw or in a white wine garlic sauce. Also loved that you can get half dozen or dozen for any of those options. I’d never had oysters in a sauce like that so went with it – when it came a short while later, I was surprised how good it was. I was drinking the sauce, which is often salty when you get it with shellfish but it really was just about perfect.

The entrees were ordered and arrived about 20-minutes later. I ordered beet salad and crispy duck. I ate half of each and took the remainder of wings, and entree home. The wings, as expected, were spicy with a blend of sweetness. The beet salad was fresh and very tasty. The entrée included two pieces of dark meat, mash potatoes and asparagus. The sauce had a strong horseradish flavor that taste wonderful on the asparagus. At the end of the meal, the check was received and paid. We remained at the table undisturbed for a few more minutes.
