Angry Moon Café in Palm Beach Gardens is a wonderful, little secret for a select few, in the know. The Carmine’s plaza is usually packed with cars, very busy, right on the corner of Prosperity and Donald Ross in Palm Beach Gardens. You walk in and you are transported back to old world charm – it has some maritime décor and beautiful wood furniture and reminds me of what an old cruise ship might have looked like. Then you walk out onto the sunny backyard patio and you have the beautiful marina, and cool breezes with a combination of tables for two with umbrellas, and larger tables for bigger parties. The vibe is a very relaxed kind of opulence –perfect for a weekend brunch. The best part is the food – they have mastered the French art of layering flavors and textures – every bite is always delicious. The prices are reasonable and a good value for what you’re being served. You leave there feeling like you treated yourself to something wonderful and can’t wait to go back.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised about this place. Parking is usually crowded in that area, but I found one right away. It was dark inside but nicely decorated, I sat at the bar since I came alone. I ordered with help of the nice waiter’s suggestion. I thought my sandwich was tasty filled with that delicate mozzarella and generous portion of prosciutto, roasted peppers and drizzled with infused basil olive oil on a Warm baguette. I chose a side salad instead of fruit or soup. The soup was split ham and pea and I’m not a fan of pea soup. The salad was a medley of baby greens tossed with a nice vinaigrette and a few cherry tomatoes. I couldn’t wait for dessert, so I could try one of their crepes. It was only me, but I managed to eat more than half of the caramelized apples with cinnamon and topped with artisan vanilla ice cream which was so creamy. I would have had a coffee if I had not had 2 cups earlier during the day. I saw several people pick them up to go and the iced coffee looked like some sort of treat ! I started up a conversation with a woman a few seats over who was having a beautiful piece of salmon on top of salad. The salmon looked perfectly cooked and since I work very close by I will certainly be back. The bill was $39 plus I left tip but with wine and dessert to myself it was expected, and money well spent.

I am not very familiar with the area, but I really enjoyed walking about the marina before and after our brunch at Angry Moon Café. There was no wait time and the service was very good. I noticed when walking to my table, most people were having the eggs benedict and the crepes, so I know what I was going to order. The salmon was very fresh and a great hollandaise sauce. The crepe was nice and thin (the way I like it) and filled with cheese and spinach and a salty prosciutto complimented it very well. The coffee was excellent, it was a nice day to be out, so we sat on their terrace and enjoyed the view. I would definitely come back for brunch again if I was in the area.
