Cholo Soy in West Palm Beach, is a wonderful, hidden gem for great, tasty Mexican bites. The location is in a more industrial part of West Palm – on US1/Old Dixie Hwy, so you might drive right by if you don’t know it’s there. It’s like a small take out lunch counter inside, with a pretty, brightly colored backyard seating area. There is beautiful Mexican pop art throughout the small establishment. The staff are super friendly and able to give you an accurate description of what to expect with whatever dish you ask them about. The most pleasant surprise are the amazing flavors and the great prices. You feel like you discovered the best kept secret to meet those Mexican taco cravings. Awesome, awesome, awesome!

I love the casual atmosphere at Cholo Soy Cocina and the flavors that the chef masters in the kitchen. I am always welcomed by the friendly staff. I look forward to the specials Chef Clay has on the board posted on the wall as you walk in. The day I visited he had fresh shrimp and snapper for his ceviche, a steak and caramelized onion with bacon quesadilla, and crispy cauliflower was the vegetarian. If you are vegetarian you will just live it! I went with friends which is nice because we shared sides of the grilled corn with queso and thick cut yucca fries with their sauce. Chef Clay makes his own hot sauce which you can find at the counter and if you like spicy you have to try. Dessert was churros and they were hot and crispy served with sinful, gooey dulce de leche dip. I washed it down with their house margarita! We sat outside in the back on a bright yellow picnic table under a canopy with fans to keep cool and vibrant colors all around. The vibe is relaxed with people who just want to enjoy fresh quality food with flavor. Prices are fair and food is easy to share. At Cholo Soy I know I am eating fresh local food that is bursting with flavors of chilies and spices, your mouth will be awakened with the flavors!

This would definitively become a once a week for me. Not such an easy thing to find quality and great tasting Mexican food in Florida. They did not cut any corners and did not try to speed up my order. Took their time and made my order look as good as it tasted. Would for sure come back and will recommend to anyone in the area. Its on a main road and easy to find. The menu is just the right amount of items and not confusing. No pictures and names of the dishes are all in Spanish with English explanation on the bottom. The person at the counter gave me her recommendations and they were all great.
