At Cliff’s restaurant I ordered my large oxtail for myself with a carrot punch, and my Wife ordered the Brown stew chicken with a peanut punch. We walk in and go sit down and as I’m drinking my Red Stripe waiting for are food I’m just looking at the cool Jamaican calendars, some of the art, and newspaper clippings all over the walls. Food comes and I make sure they gave me my requested extra gravy, they always do! Each dish comes with a side of cabbage and plantains. Only thing I need now is some Jamaican hot sauce that they keep nearby and I am good to go. Cliff’s oxtail is always good, the sauce tastes like your Grandmother made it. My wife loves their brown stew as well; she always says the chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Washing that down with a carrot punch and peanut punch is always a great compliment with our meal. Cliff never disappoints. Atmosphere is very cool. It’s a bunch of old school Jamaicans hanging out back where they make the jerk and fry the fish. Usually there are nice women in the front who take your order and there is usually a couple old Jamaican’s at the bar cracking jokes. It has a very old school Jamaican feel to it, very blast from the past in a good way. When you first walk in there is a small bar to your right, and to your left are places where you can sit and eat should you decide to eat there, you can also do takeout.

Upon entering Cliff’s, I looked around at all the furniture noticing how used it all was. The two ladies working the counter were very nice and helpful. We ordered our food to go and sat in the stools against the wall and waited patiently. There is a fair sized bar that has about 19 chairs and about 6 tables. There was a total of 3 people dining in and 3 other people waiting for takeout like us. All of them at one point were staring at my father and I as we were obviously not from around the area. When our food finally came out we took it to go since we were honestly a little worried about our cars being so far out of sight. The chicken was tender and the char from the barbeque gave just the right amount of smokiness to play off the sweetness of the sauce and spices on the chicken. It was chicken breast on the bone and I wish they hadn’t chopped it into chunks because some of the bone splintered and that was unpleasant to find mid bite. The rice served with it was bland and overcooked. The parking is limited as are the seats in the tiny restaurant. The chicken is delicious but the sides that come with it definitely need some more love and attention. I would only recommend visiting to get some well cooked/flavorful chicken to go. Very affordable. Food is worth the price, chicken was delicious.

Very nice personnel, excellent Caribbean food at an unbeatable price, but get the food to go. Small places that are called “hole in the wall” have great people and excellent food at unbeatable prices but do not expect “atmosphere” or a “dining experience”. This is just for eating good food, not for a special occasion.
