Halfway between Miami and Key West, this laid back Upper Keys landmark is a great place for a meal or a drink, whether you arrive by car or boat. Our server, June, was great, and the quality and the taste of food were excellent, along with large portions of food, which I found fairly priced. I would recommend this to anyone staying in the Upper or Middle Keys. The setting is beautiful and the food is great.

First, the entrance to Marker 88 was very confusing. I felt like I had to go on the berm of the road to get to the parking lot. And apparently, there are two lots! I could not figure out how to get in and I had to make a U-turn. When I got to the back parking lot, I saw that it was empty. I asked the man outside if the restaurant was open, and he said he would go check. He came back and said that it was. I went inside to find that it was totally empty, cleaned, and basically closed. I was offered a seat, but I didn’t want to keep them. The service said they were thinking about closing early due to the cold weather and no customers. (Although 20 miles North, Fish House had been packed). My waitress made me a salad, but it took her half an hour! She said it was the first time she made it and fortunately, only charged me half price.

Marker 88 has been a staple of the Key’s for many, many years. If you haven’t tried it recently, you must go back like I did. You will be pleasantly surprised with the patio area for entertaining friends in a casual atmosphere. Or, for that special occasion, make reservations in the formal dinning room. If you like wine, go to Marker 88 as their wine room has to be the finest in the Keys.

Place Marker 88 on your preferred dinning list when visiting the middle keys, or stop by for lunch on your way to Key West. Choose from a formal setting in their elegant dinning room or put your Keno’s and tee-shirt on and site outside and enjoy this wonderful menu. You won’t be disappointed.
