We turned into the shopping center parking lot and immediately saw a spot right in front of the restaurant. We snagged it and headed inside. After being seated right away, our server recited the specials and was very helpful with questions we had about them. The giant cupcake display case in the middle of the restaurant had us dreaming about dessert, but we started with two appetizers to share: the bacon wrapped dates and Bibb lettuce salad. As we waited, we soaked up the atmosphere of the place. It was softly lit and very romantic. It was as if we were transported to a little bistro in France and we felt very chic. The appetizers came out and we devoured every bite. I wish there were more of the bacon wrapped dates, but the delicious and fresh salad helped out with that predicament. Our meals arrived soon as after we were done with the appetizers. I'm working my way through the menu here and tonight was the rigatoni balsamic for me. The combination of bold flavors and the ample portion size were very pleasing. I dove right in! By the time I had eaten half of what was on my plate, I was stuffed! I took the other half home to savor later on. I managed to save some room for those cupcakes in the display that were calling our names. Our waiter was very attentive to us the whole time we were there, with one exception. We waited after we had finished our entrees for him to come clear the plates and take our dessert orders, but he was talking on the other side of the restaurant. After waiting a little longer than we liked, my husband was able to catch his eye and wave him over, so it wasn't too big of a deal. After coming over, the waiter kindly boxed up my food for me and took our dessert order. For dessert we split three cupcakes: pumpkin spice, strawberry lemonade and chocolate hazelnut. I am not shy about saying that these are the best cupcakes in South Florida. No matter what flavor we try, it is absolutely top notch. They are so incredibly moist and piled high with delicious frosting. I'm glad I saved some room for them! After we had our cupcakes, the waiter promptly brought us the bill. He also brought us back our paid check and credit card very quickly, which we really appreciated. After eating that much delicious food, we were ready to go home and sleep it off! All in all, it was another great experience at Mustard Seed and we'll surely be going back again!

Mustard Seed is situated in a convenient location along University Drive, just south of Broward Blvd. There is ample parking in the location and it’s easy to get to. The restaurant décor is rather conservative, yet new and very clean. I was greeted immediately when I walked in the door. Service was impeccable, and the waiter very knowledgeable about the dishes and their ingredients. I enjoyed the Ceviche, but this was not traditional Ceviche as I know; to me this was more of a salad, but the Ceviche flavors were good and I would order this again. The crab cakes with honey mustard had a great texture and flavor, a little more breading than I desire but overall an excellent dish. There was a nice Asian salad with the crab cakes and a few fries on the side.

My entrée was the Crispy duck with a cherry sauce; cooked to perfection. There were real mashed potatoes, roasted French green beans, asparagus and small carrots under the duck, the presentation was appealing and the portion was generous. My bill was reasonable and the experience great. I enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. The gourmet cupcakes displayed at the bar were beautiful but I was so full and satisfied from the meal that it was not even a temptation. Overall, this was a satisfying experience.

Upon arrival from the outside, first impression was neither positive nor negative. The location is a strip mall location which could easily be passed without notice. I’m uncertain if I considered dining outdoors, however I noticed people seated outdoors as I departed. The outdoors may be an area to expand on for the ownership.

The décor simple yet elegant and food and service are both high quality, quantity, and beautifully presented. The Peruvian Fish Stew should be in bold letters on the menu; however I would have loved to see or try the Crispy Duck. Everything about this place is nice. I would like to see one pop up in my home town. The Mustard Seed is obviously a place for foodies by foodies, high quality food and service and a fish stew and wine list that should not to be missed are amongst its charms.
